Spring is finally beginning in the Champlain Valley! Although there are still patches of snow here and there and the ski areas still have lots of the white stuff on the slopes, down here in the valley we’re starting to warm up. Out in the yard there are a few dwarf daffodils blooming beside a melting pile left from the chest deep pile shed from the roof and the chickens are finding their first worms and bugs of the season. We’re just beginning the huge backlog of grounds work that spring always brings as we prepare for our many summer guests. Reservations are already coming in from repeat friends and friends we’ve not yet met and we are looking forward to a busy and rewarding summer.
As some of you may have noticed, we have a new look, name and address. This winter we made the change to Alder Brook House. This was a name we preferred from the start but was not available to us until recently. Our son and his colleague have set us up with a new web site which puts us much more in control and we are very excited to make it more dynamic and useful to our guests. We will soon be including Alder Brook Cabin, a small, rustic cabin rental on the site as well. Alder Brook Cabin is a tiny space for two equipped for the “glamping” (glamor camping) experience. Look for it on this site soon.
